Prior to the April 2, 2024 sales tax vote though, they changed their location to the East Crossroads of Jackson County. The date of that news conference was February 13.<\/p>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<aside class=\"promo-link\">\n\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/fox4kc.com\/news\/women-for-kansas-weighs-in-on-proposed-constitutional-amendment\/?ipid=promo-link-block1\" class=\"promo-link__link\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\"><br \/>\n\t\t\u2018Women for Kansas\u2019 weighs in on proposed constitutional amendment\t<\/a><br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>The only site that\u2019s been mentioned by the team in the last three months is the one at 119th and Nall in Overland Park, Kansas, the former Sprint headquarters now known as Aspiria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we will get there with the Royals,\u201d Jackson County Democratic Legislative Chairman DaRon McGee said in an interview with FOX4 Friday.<\/p>\n<p>McGee added he thinks there are some as he called it, \u2018other determining factors.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think one of those is September 30 to see whether the County Executive will remain in office or not,\u201d he continued. \u201cI think that has been a big impediment to keeping the teams in Jackson County has been the leadership of Frank White.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>McGee\u2019s been a supporter of the recall effort. The Royals wouldn\u2019t comment on Friday. Democratic County Executive Frank White wouldn\u2019t comment on camera.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChairman McGee\u2019s own words confirm what the County Executive has said all along: this recall isn\u2019t about leadership \u2014 it\u2019s about clearing the way to subsidize wealthy pro sports teams,\u201d White\u2019s Chief of Staff Caleb Clifford said in a statement. \u201cWe appreciate Fox4 for making this clear. Stadium backers are running the same playbook as before, underestimating voters\u2019 intelligence. If this recall goes forward, it\u2019s nothing more than [a] stadium vote 2.0.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On White\u2019s side in the April 2024 stadium election was Chairwoman of the Committee Against New Royals Stadium Taxes Becky Nace. She says her goal was to educate voters on the difference between the ballot question in 2006 and the one last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was that there was no lease agreement. White had said his entity hadn\u2019t signed off on it.<\/p>\n<p>When it came to the actual vote, it was to repeal the countywide capital improvements tax and impose a parks tax instead. The ballot question was for 3\/8ths of a cent though, the same tax amount shoppers currently pay.
