Jameela Jamil<\/a> is weighing in on what makes her \u201cuncomfortable\u201d about Serena Williams\u2019 admission that she is using a GLP-1 drug for weight loss.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Williams shared that she is using a weight loss drug in an exclusive interview with the \u201cToday\u201d show<\/a> on Friday, and she said she\u2019s lost 31 pounds.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Williams appeared on the show as the new face of Ro, a telehealth company that can prescribe weight-loss drugs. Her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, is a board member<\/a> and also an investor in the company. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThe thing I feel most uncomfortable about here is that celebrities have access to doctors most others don\u2019t have access to. These \u2018miracle\u2019 weight loss drugs come at a price,\u201d Jamil said in an Instagram<\/a> shared on Sunday, before listing off all of the potential side effects<\/a> of the drugs and criticizing the media for not sharing them. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIf things go wrong, you don\u2019t have a billion dollars to fix it, that\u2019s why I don\u2019t like celebrities pushing drugs with such drastic documented side effects,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n As Jamil\u2019s post picked up steam, she added clarifications to her statements in her caption, including that Williams\u2019 husband is invested in the company. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cAnother reason we should take every celebrity endorsement with a pinch of salt,\u201d she wrote. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThe Good Place\u201d actor added that her post was also \u201cabout transparency, not judging Serena\u2019s body. Nor is it judging you or your decision to take a GLP-1.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Jamil continued to post more videos about the topic on her Instagram stories, and made another follow-up Instagram post on Monday centered around Williams.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI also wrote a lengthy substack defending Serena\u2019s right to do WHATEVER she wants with her body,\u201d she wrote. \u201cHer body has been policed enough over the decades. It\u2019s not about her or her choice. It\u2019s about how celebrities promote drugs and diet products. All gloss, none of the inconvenient truths.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n When Williams appeared on the \u201cToday\u201d show last week, she explained her reasoning for going on a GLP-1. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThis all started after I had my (first) kid,\u201d she said. \u201cNo matter what I did \u2014 running, walking, I would walk for hours because they say that\u2019s good, I literally was playing a professional sport \u2014 and I could never go back to where I needed to be for my health. Then, after my second kid, it just even got harder.
