Comedian Marc Maron<\/a> took shots at fellow comedian and podcaster Bill Maher<\/a> over the weekend, calling the \u201cReal Time<\/a>\u201d host \u201cdesperate\u201d on an episode of Pod Save America<\/a>.<\/p>\n Maron said he always had \u201ca problem\u201d with Maher\u2019s tone of voice, and that his stand-up is \u201cjust not for me.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cLike I feel with Bill\u2026 that there is this, and it happens with some of the other boomers, there\u2019s this desperate chasing of relevance that changes someone\u2019s mind in terms of how they approach what they do and also kind of makes the whole undertaking feel desperate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Maron praised Maher\u2019s writers\u2019 room, saying they \u201cknow how to write for his tone.\u201d But he said there\u2019s an overall sweatiness to his schtick that he can\u2019t move past. Maron said he \u201ccan\u2019t see past [Maher\u2019s] desperation and what he\u2019s willing to do to stay in the conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s not the first time that Maron has criticized Maher\u2019s work. The comic referred to Maher<\/a> as \u201ca b**ch\u201d earlier this year for\u00a0agreeing with \u201csome of the things\u201d President Donald Trump<\/a> supports.<\/p>\n In October 2023, Maron spoke with The Daily Beast<\/a> on comedians aligning with the political right, taking the opportunity to level a shot at Maher.<\/p>\n \u201cThese guys just have to die sooner. We\u2019re seeing it with Bill Maher now,\u201d Maron said. \u201cAgain, I\u2019m going to be fielding calls and probably some tweets that are not going to\u2014it doesn\u2019t matter.\u201d<\/p>\n Maher, for his part, has been both critical and supportive of Trump.
