Devon Walker is leaving \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d ahead of season 51.<\/p>\n
Walker, 34, who joined the \u201cSNL\u201d cast for season 48 in 2022, announced his exit via Instagram<\/a> on Monday, August 25.<\/p>\n \u201cMe and the show did three years together, and sometimes it was really cool. Sometimes it was toxic as hell. But … we made the most of what it is, even amidst all of the dysfunction. We made a f—ed up little family,\u201d Walker wrote in a statement titled \u201cwait..did he quit or get fired?\u201d<\/p>\n NJ.com has reached out to NBC for comment.<\/p>\n Walker noted that jobs in the entertainment industry often \u201cfeel like a bunch of little marriages,\u201d most of which are \u201cfleeting.\u201d He also gave a shout-out to \u201cSNL\u201d writers Alex English and Gary Richardson, his cohosts for the \u201cDad\u201d comedy show<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cMore than anything, I\u2019m just really happy I got to do it with Gary and Alex,\u201d Walker wrote. \u201c[We] really went from running a bar show together to working at 30 Rock! During an interview with Puck News<\/a> published last week, \u201cSNL\u201d creator Lorne Michaels teased a big cast shakeup.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019ll be announced in a week or so,\u201d Michaels said, noting that he \u201cfelt pressure to reinvent\u201d after the sketch comedy show\u2019s big 50th anniversary <\/a>last season.<\/p>\n Season 51 of \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d premieres on NBC on Saturday, October 4.
