\n\tTaking place Oct. 11 at the outdoor amphitheater of Jones Beach Theater, the inaugural f\u00eate gathers a genre-defying lineup of Mexican and Mexican-American acts, including headliners Net\u00f3n Vega<\/a>, Chino Pacas<\/a> and rapper Alem\u00e1n, as well as sierre\u00f1o star DannyLux<\/a>, indie-pop\u2019s Los Aptos, cumbia-pop singer Estevie, Jasiel Nu\u00f1ez<\/a> and more.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m excited to be bringing the first corridos music festival to the iconic Jones Beach Theater, especially since it will be most of these artists\u2019 first time performing in New York City. I can\u2019t wait for the Puebla York community to show the world that we are here and proud,\u201d Migo Festival co-founder Paulina Montiel says in a statement. <\/p>\n

\n\tWith roots planted in the Puebla York community \u2014 Mexicans and Mexican descendants from the state of Puebla who call New York City home \u2014 the festival was born out of a deep love for corridos and a desire to create spaces where Latin voices and traditions could thrive in New York. Though New York\u2019s Mexican community has often been overlooked in the larger Latin music scene dominated by Caribbean-rooted styles, Migo Fest strives to give Mexicans visibility and celebrate their contributions to the city, Montiel tells Billboard Espa\u00f1ol<\/em> via Zoom. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition to its marquee acts, Migo Fest is spotlighting local Mexican-American artists who embody NYC\u2019s unique cultural landscape. The Bronx\u2019s Selines, Brooklyn\u2019s SpliffHappy<\/a>, and Queens\u2019 Santy y Su Estilo \u00danico will take the stage, blending traditional Mexican sounds with urban New York flavor.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition to the marquee acts, Migo Fest is spotlighting local Mexican-American talent emerging directly from New York\u2019s streets. The Bronx\u2019s Selines, Brooklyn\u2019s SpliffHappy, and Queens\u2019 Santy y Su Estilo \u00danico will take the stage, representing the growing influence of the city\u2019s next generation of Mexican artists. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe event also has a mission of giving back. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the nonprofit Migo Fund, which provides \u201cessential resources such as financial assistance and art supplies, helping artists launch their careers or elevate their creative talents to the next level,\u201d says the press release. Buses will be provided from three major NY train stations to Jones Beach to ensure accessibility to fans across the region. <\/p>\n
