You may or may not have noticed a lot of headlines featuring the words “royal butler” lately, and that’d be because former royal butler Grant Harrold has dropped a book literally called The Royal Butle<\/em>r. And it’s full of behind-the-scenes details about the family.<\/p>\n

Grant worked with the royals for years, largely acting as valet to King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Charles’ kids Prince Harry and Prince William. And his book paints an extremely flattering picture of His Majesty, even calling into question some of what Harry said in his book Spare<\/em>. Example? Grant claims William and Harry were actually happy about Charles and Camilla’s wedding, which is pretty much the opposite of what Harry has said.<\/p>\n

“The four of them, I promise you, got on so well,” he wrote<\/a>. “And that\u2019s why I don\u2019t understand what Harry\u2019s said, I really don\u2019t understand. Because I saw them. I saw them having dinners together, I saw them having drinks together, I saw them going to parties together.”<\/p>\n

Now, a palace insider tells Rob Shuter’s Shuter Scoop<\/a> that King Charles is using the book to “counterattack” Harry. “This is Charles hitting back,\u201d they explain. “Harrold\u2019s book is a direct counterattack on Harry. It\u2019s basically saying: don\u2019t believe him, believe me.”<\/p>\n

A friend of Harry’s adds “He knows it\u2019s a takedown. This is the King using loyal old staff to trash his story and make him look bitter and dishonest.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Charles’ gardener Jack Stooks has also been singing the praises of his former employer, and another insider claims “They\u2019re a united front. Harrold and Stooks are shaping a narrative where Charles is dignified, Camilla adored, and Harry the unreliable son rewriting history for profit.”<\/p>\n

Take this all with a grain of salt, but…tea.<\/p>\n
