Everything seemed to be good when Brian Burkheiser departed metal band I Prevail<\/a> in May. However, a recent development concerning his new musical project shows that might not be the case.<\/p>\n The vocalist posted on his personal Instagram account<\/a> on Monday that his former band is preventing him from releasing music under his new moniker, Scatterbrain. \u201cDue to an unresolved dispute with my former band, I Prevail, I am being blocked from releasing my song \u201dPhases,” as well as other new music,\u201d wrote Burkheiser. \u201cI\u2019m deeply disappointed, but I\u2019m doing everything I can to move things forward. I want to thank my family, friends, and most importantly, my fans for their unwavering support.\u201d<\/p>\n Burkheiser handled vocal duties for I Prevail ever since the band\u2019s beginning in 2013. In May 2024, the vocalist had to step away from touring due to his battles with a rare disease called Eagle Syndrome. The main symptom is sudden, sharp, nerve-like pain in the jawbone and joint, back of the throat, and base of the tongue. Burkheiser had to undergo multiple surgeries in attempts to deal with his condition. I Prevail then announced in May 2025<\/a> that they were parting ways with Burkheiser on a mutual basis.<\/p>\n The vocalist would speak more about his exit in a statement <\/a>to note that there is \u201cno beef\u201d between the two parties and that \u201che loves every single one of those guys.\u201d. However, Burkheiser expressed he \u201cdidn\u2019t deserve how things went down.\u201d The vocalist went on to clarify, \u201cBut it doesn\u2019t mean they are bad people.
