Co-creators Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham\u2019s British crime drama<\/a> has become the second most-watched series ever made for the streaming giant, and while those self-reported ratings shouldn\u2019t be taken without a hefty grain of salt, there\u2019s no denying the four-part program\u2019s immense popularity. Buoyed by breakout performances, real-time episodes, and examining every parent\u2019s worst fears, \u201cAdolescence\u201d is a legitimate sensation \u2014 and one that awards voters are eager to embrace.<\/p>\n Fewer episodes and a more practical production contributed to fewer total nominations than its fellow limited series leader \u2014 it\u2019s hard to get multiple directors nominated when your show only used one, just as it\u2019s tricky to earn recognition for hairstyling or makeup when your lead character isn\u2019t spending half-a-day in the stylists\u2019 chair. But make no mistake: \u201cAdolescence\u201d is the limited series frontrunner. Gold Derby experts<\/a> unanimously predict it to win Outstanding Limited Series, Supporting Actor, Directing, and Writing, among other categories where it\u2019s favored.<\/p>\n So, like we did with our other category leaders<\/a>, attention must turn away from what\u2019s trending and toward what\u2019s right. How many Emmys should \u201cAdolescence\u201d actually win? The critical darling is competing in 11 categories (12, if you count Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction or Reality Series, where its \u201cMaking Of\u201d doc is nominated \u2014 and no, we\u2019re not counting that one). In a year where its competitors aren\u2019t exactly on par with \u201cAngels in America\u201d or \u201cWatchmen\u201d \u2014 the best of the best limited series \u2014 should it win 11 trophies?<\/p>\n Each category is unique.
