From \u201cBuddy Holly\u201d to \u201cBeverly Hills\u201d and Black Sabbath\u2019s \u201cParanoid\u201d, Weezer<\/a> has never pursued the obvious path.<\/p>\n The pandemic, a period of slim pickings for most artists, provided Weezer a different avenue to produce the goods. Rivers Cuomo and co. delivered no less than six studio albums, including the heavier, Van Weezer project and the four album saga, Seasons<\/em>. No shows, no problem.<\/p>\n More than 30 years have passed since Weezer dropped their iconic self-titled debut album, and they\u2019re only now gliding into a purple patch.<\/p>\n That\u2019s the word according to Brian Bell, Weezer\u2019s rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, backing vocalist, and occasional lead vocalist. \u201cWe\u2019re doing great. We\u2019re kind of having a renaissance in a way. It\u2019s an exciting time for us creatively and in the band,\u201d Bell tells Rolling Stone AU\/NZ<\/em>. \u201cWe\u2019ve never got along so well, and everybody\u2019s very happy. So it\u2019s a good time.\u201d<\/p>\n Those good times extend to the creative process. Yes, new music is coming along. Will any of it be ready to premiere this December when the alternative rock heroes join the 2025 Good Things lineup<\/a>?<\/p>\n Don\u2019t bet on it.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ll play hits and things that people want to hear, but we also want to really enjoy the experience as well. The problem is, like, you can\u2019t play anything anymore without it being going directly online. Is that the version you want out there for the rest of eternity? So, I doubt we\u2019ll have a record out or new music out by then. So unfortunately, you might not hear anything new. But I can\u2019t say for sure. We are so stoked to play this one<\/em> song that we have brewing and (might say) \u2018let\u2019s just do it\u2019.
