Ahead of Wednesday\u2019s episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty,<\/em> the Prime Video show\u2019s official social media accounts are reminding fans of its anti-bullying policy. The reminder was shared as one of the show\u2019s stars, Gavin Casalegno, faces increased criticism and online harassment from fans.<\/p>\n An Instagram Story posted by the account on Tuesday, Aug. 26, reminded followers of the \u201ccommunity guidelines\u201d for engaging with their content.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have a ZERO tolerance policy for bullying and hate speech,\u201d the account wrote, noting that anyone who engages in behaviors like \u201chate speech or bullying,\u201d \u201ctargeting our cast or crew\u201d or \u201charassing or doxxing members of the community\u201d would be \u201cbanned.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe show isn\u2019t real but the people playing the characters are,\u201d the official Instagram and X accounts for The Summer I Turned Pretty <\/em>wrote in the caption of a post that featured the words \u201cThe Summer We Started Acting Normal Online.\u201d<\/p>\n While no explicit reason was provided for why the show\u2019s social media accounts posted the zero-tolerance message, some viewers believe it was prompted by Casalegno\u2019s recent remarks about being attacked online. With only three more episodes left of the season, fans have made their growing hatred for Casalegno\u2019s character common knowledge. The 25-year-old actor also hinted that he received vitriolic messages from fans.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s a single human being in the world who can carry the emotional negativity to the degree that stuff like this happens,\u201d Casalegno told the New York Times in August<\/a>. \u201cAnd I think that\u2019s why Amazon did a good job of stepping in and being like, \u2018Hey, no bullying.\u2019 Though, not really going so well.\u201d<\/p>\n As with many teen dramas that revolve around a messy love triangle, The Summer I Turned Pretty <\/em>fandom is staunchly divided into two camps: Team Jeremiah and Team Conrad.
