It was a sad day for Gaffney Chicago Medical Center when Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss<\/strong>) departed the ED after he took responsibility for sabotaging the defective OR 2.0 tech and became persona non grata. But he was also in a rut and decided it was time to move on.<\/p>\n Now, after a two-year absence from the Dick Wolf<\/strong>-produced Chicago Med<\/em>, Gehlfuss is back in a guest-starring role, rejoining his original cast members Oliver Platt<\/strong> and S. Epatha Merkerson<\/strong> in Season 11. Ultimately, I want to develop new, different characters.\u201d<\/p>\n The reason Halstead is returning to Chicago is being kept on the DL. But the fact that Dayton (Sasha Roiz<\/strong>), the genius behind OR 2.0, is no longer running the hospital has to be a factor.
