Bruce Willis<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 daughters Mabel and Evelyn\u2019s reaction to his frontotemporal dementia<\/a> diagnosis was revealed in the special Emma and Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, were brought up in conversation between Emma Heming Willis<\/strong> <\/a>and Diane Sawyer<\/strong> during the hour-long special, which aired on Tuesday, August 26. Emma, 47, was asked how long she took to tell her kids about Bruce\u2019s FTD diagnosis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cPretty quickly I told them. I have always been very open with the girls,\u201d she revealed. \u201cI never wanted them to think that he wasn\u2019t paying attention to them. What I learned is that when you give them the information, you wait to hear what the questions might be and they really didn\u2019t have questions about it. I think there was a sense of relief for all of us that, like, \u2018OK, now we get it and now we understand.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Emma and the girls came up with the acronym, Fantastic Turtles Dancing in Bruce\u2019s Head, to help remind them of the name of Bruce\u2019s condition.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe girls put that acronym together so that we could remember the way the letters go,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

Bruce, 70, also shares daughters Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31, with ex-wife Demi Moore<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tScout Willis and her sister Tallulah Willis are rallying around stepmom Emma Heming Willis after she gave an emotional update on Bruce Willis\u2018 health. \u201cSo proud of my family @emmahemingwillis,\u201d Tallulah, 29, wrote via her Instagram Story on Monday, September 25, after Heming Willis, 45, appeared on the Today show. Scout, 32, shared a glimpse [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In addition to speaking about Bruce\u2019s kids, Emma, who tied the knot with the actor in 2007, opened up about when his health struggles became present<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor someone who is very talkative and very engaged, he was just a little more quiet,\u201d Emma said. \u201cAnd when the family would get together, he would kind of just melt a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sawyer added in a voiceover that Bruce\u2019s family noticed he was becoming \u201cless engaged in their lives\u201d<\/a> and that a \u201cchildhood stutter\u201d had \u201creappeared.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt felt a little removed, very cold, not like Bruce, who was very warm and affectionate,\u201d Emma explained. \u201cTo go in the complete opposite of that was alarming and scary.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Emma shared that Bruce is \u201cstill very mobile\u201d and \u201cin really great health overall,\u201d communication for the actor is a struggle.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just his brain that is failing him \u2026 The language is going, and we\u2019ve learned to adapt, and we have a way of communicating with him, which is just a different way,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
