Hockey Dad<\/a> have announced a new EP, entitled The Clip<\/em>. It is set for release next month on Friday, September 12th via their longtime home of Farmer & The Owl. It marks only the second EP in the band\u2019s decade-plus career, having released their debut EP Dreamin\u2019<\/em> back in 2014. To coincide with the EP\u2019s announcement, the Wollongong indie-rock duo have shared a new single entitled \u2018All Hat No Cattle\u2019; it, along with information on how to digitally pre-save The Clip<\/em>, can be found below.<\/p>\n In a statement shared to their social media pages, the band described The Clip<\/em> as \u201ca project that we\u2019ve had bagged and tagged for years\u201d. \u201cWe figured it\u2019s time to take off The Clip <\/em>and let it breathe,\u201d they wrote. Yesterday (August 26th), the band \u2013 vocalist\/guitarist Zach Stephenson and drummer Billy Fleming \u2013 went on triple j<\/a>\u2018s Breakfast<\/em> show to speak with presenters Concetta Caristo<\/a> and Luka Muller about it, while also premiering \u2018All Hat No Cattle\u2019 prior to its release to streaming today.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve had these songs sitting there, ready to go,\u201d said Fleming. \u201cWhen we recorded them, we weren\u2019t really feeling them in that moment. I think we\u2019d listened to them too much, and we just needed to ignore them for awhile. They were just going to be collecting dust if we didn\u2019t put them out now, it was like, \u2018Why not?’\u201d A music video for \u2018All Hat No Cattle\u2019, directed by James Kates, is below.<\/p>\n The new EP arrives just over a year after Rebuild Repeat<\/a><\/em>, Hockey Dad\u2019s fourth studio album. Produced by former Sparkadia<\/a> frontman Alex Burnett, the album debuted at number 15 on the ARIA<\/a> Albums Chart and featured triple j favourites such as \u2018Still Have Room\u2019, \u2018Base Camp\u2019, \u2018Safety Pin\u2019 and \u2018Wreck And Ruin\u2019. \u2018Still Have Room\u2019 came in at number 45<\/a> in the triple j Hottest 100<\/a> of 2023.<\/p>\n The band are set to headline Rad Presents Live, a mini-festival hosted by their longtime management Rad Music, this weekend in Sydney. Taking over Liberty Hall and its adjacent courts on Saturday, August 30th, the band will perform alongside former tourmates The Belair Lip Bombs<\/a>, Dust<\/a>, Shady Nasty<\/a>, Armlock<\/a>, Xiao Xiao, Crocodylus<\/a>, Bridge Dog, Paint, Bimbo and Sevilles.
