Jake Schreier is giving an update on the much-anticipated X-Men reboot in the works at Marvel Studios.<\/p>\n
In a new interview, the Thunderbolts* director teased working on the next generation of mutant heroes.<\/p>\n
More from Deadline<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t say anything about it, but we\u2019ve started work on X-Men, and that\u2019s obviously very, very exciting,\u201d he told Empire<\/a>.<\/p>\n The filmmaker noted that working on Thunderbolts* was a learning experience, adding, \u201cThe biggest learning curve for me was the proportion of the action to the more emotional, character-driven scenes, and how, even though it\u2019s more shooting days than I\u2019ve ever had, they get eaten up quite quickly by the action stuff. By the time we got to the end of it, it felt like, \u2018Oh, now I feel like we get how to do this a little bit better.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Schreier previously hinted at the X-Men reboot<\/a> in an interview with The Playlist, calling the comic book heroes \u201cinherently interesting and complex material.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s an incredible opportunity with super interesting characters and [much] internal conflict,\u201d he added. \u201cThese characters are wrestling with their identity and place in the world\u2014that\u2019s inherently interesting and complex material.\u201d<\/p>\n When Disney and 20th Century Fox merged in 2019, the X-Men characters became available to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
