Sharp Pins\u2019 Kai Slater, photo by Jolie M-A<\/a><\/cite><\/p>\n Kai Slater, of the Chicago rock trio Lifeguard<\/a>, has announced a new album from his bedroom pop project Sharp Pins<\/a>: Balloon Balloon Balloon<\/em><\/a> is out November 21 (via K<\/a>\/Perennial<\/a>). Below, watch director Grace Bader Conrad<\/a>\u2019s colorful music video for lead single \u201c(I Wanna) Be Your Girl<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Slater worked on his new album between January and May of this year. He recorded it at his Chicago home and with Hayes Waring<\/a> at the producer\u2019s Olympia, Washington, studio, Mobile Control.<\/p>\n Slater released his first Sharp Pins album, Turtle Rock<\/em><\/a>, in 2023, via his own Hallogallo Tapes<\/a> label. The next year, he self-released<\/a> Radio DDR<\/em><\/a>, before it got an expanded re-release<\/a>, via K and Perennial, in March.<\/p>\n Slater handles guitar and vocals in Lifeguard. He\u2019s joined in the band by bassist, baritone guitarist, and vocalist Asher Case and drummer and synthesizer player Isaac Lowenstein.
