However, Pearce got more candid about the separation in a new interview on Bunnie Xo\u2019s \u201cDumb Blonde\u201d podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought he was so cute,\u201d Pearce said on the podcast. \u201cI\u2019d heard he\u2019s the nicest guy in the world. I invited him to my (Billboard Country Airplay) No. 1 party for \u2018Every Little Thing.\u2019 Looking back on it, it was a hot and heavy lust. It wasn\u2019t love. It was just passionate.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cI got married to go the distance. When I married him it was for the right reasons. I think when you travel like this, I thought I was doing the right thing to get married till I was 29. But we didn\u2019t have real conversations, and we didn\u2019t really know about each other. We were kind of living this life that wasn\u2019t really reality. I think we didn\u2019t really know each other. I knew the night I got married that I shouldn\u2019t have. I think the best thing that ever happened to me was COVID, because it allowed me to deal with that in private. I think that I probably would have stayed in it longer if I could have avoided it and not had to. I was embarrassed when it happened \u2026 and was heartbroken.\u201d<\/p>\n The former couple first met in 2018 and wed in 2019. Pearce filed for divorce less than a year after, Billboard reported<\/a>. <\/p>\n \u201cIt wasn\u2019t what I signed up for,\u201d she said on the podcast. \u201cIt just wasn\u2019t the marriage that I know I deserved. I knew that very quickly. We were only married for eight months. Plenty happened to where it was very clear to me this was not, this just wasn\u2019t a marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n When asked if Ray was unfaithful during the marriage, Pearce responded that her hit \u201cWhat He Didn\u2019t Do\u201d \u201cwasn\u2019t just written out of thin air.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt wasn\u2019t good,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n However, Pearce emphasized that she is thankful for the lessons learned from the marriage.<\/p>\n \u201cThank you, because you taught me how strong I am. You put me through things that have made me better now. And I don\u2019t wish him evil,\u201d she said. \u201cI don\u2019t wish anything on him.
