Avatar<\/a> have announced their 10th studio album, Don\u2019t Go in the Forest<\/em>, arriving on Halloween (October 31st).<\/p>\n

The Swedish metal stalwarts also dropped a new song, \u201cTonight We Must Be Warriors\u201d \u2014 the third single from the album following the previously released tracks \u201cCAPTAIN GOAT\u201d and \u201cIn the Airwaves.\u201d<\/p>\n

Befitting of its title, \u201cTonight We Must Be Warriors\u201d is a fist-raising anthem with stadium-rock chants and a gruff and commanding vocal from ever-theatrical frontman Johannes Eckerstr\u00f6m. Keeping with the variety of the other two singles and Avatar\u2019s general unpredictability, the track eschews the band\u2019s earlier melodic death metal sound in favor of a Euro power metal vibe.<\/p>\n

Said Eckerstr\u00f6m of the song in a press release: \u201cIn days of isolation and despair, maybe we need to be reminded that we are not alone? We are one of many. Maybe we also need a reminder that the burden is on our shoulders? To get it done, we need to do the fighting ourselves. In our shared pain, we find solidarity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eckerstr\u00f6m went on to say that Don\u2019t Go in the Forest<\/em> is \u201cfilled to the brim with stuff we\u2019ve never done before.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all songs and concepts we haven\u2019t been close to touch until now,\u201d he said. \u201cThe mind is wild and we have lost ourselves in the darkest woods, filled with memories, and fantasies. Forbidden thoughts that must be spoken. It would have been impossible to make this album at any other time than now. That\u2019s all we ever wanted, and I think you\u2019ll find it\u2019s all you ever wanted too.\u201d<\/p>\n

News of the LP comes ahead of Avatar\u2019s numerous live commitments, which include a US tour this fall, a European jaunt in 2026, and dates supporting Metallica<\/a> in Europe next summer.<\/p>\n

The stateside headlining trek kicks off a few days after the album drops on November 5th in Phoenix, with dates running through December 7th in Dallas. Support acts include Alien Weaponry and Spiritworld, and you can get tickets here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
