Donald Trump<\/a> was up until the early hours of Wednesday morning (August 27) ranting on Truth Social, with Late Night<\/em><\/a> host Seth Meyers<\/a> becoming the latest target of the President\u2019s vitriol.<\/p>\n After a series of posts promoting former politician Trey Gowdy\u2019s new book, Trump turned his attention to a \u201csick rumor\u201d he\u2019d apparently heard regarding NBC extending Meyers\u2019 contract. It\u2019s safe to say that this \u201crumor\u201d did not put Trump in a good mood before bed.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is a sick rumor going around that Fake News NBC extended the contract of one of the least talented Late Night television hosts out there, Seth Meyers,\u201d Trump wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cHe has no Ratings, Talent, or Intelligence, and the Personality of an insecure child. So, why would Fake News NBC extend this dope\u2019s contract. I don\u2019t know, but I\u2019ll definitely be finding out!!!\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s unclear what recent \u201crumor\u201d Trump was referring to, as news of Meyers\u2019 contract renewal was first revealed by NBC back in May 2024, with Late Night<\/em> being extended through 2028.<\/p>\n The post comes amid Trump\u2019s campaign against late-night shows across the board. In July, Stephen Colbert announced that CBS had canceled The Late Show<\/em>, with its final episode set to air in May 2026<\/a>. While the network cited financial reasons, others speculated the decision was made due to Colbert\u2019s criticism of Paramount\u2019s recent settlement with Trump.<\/p>\n Trump gloated over Colbert\u2019s firing on social media while also warning that fellow late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon<\/a> and Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> would be next. At an August 6 White House press conference, the President said<\/a>, \u201cFallon has no talent. Kimmel has no talent. They\u2019re next.\u201d<\/p>\n He added, \u201cThey\u2019re going to be going. I hear they\u2019re going to be going. I don\u2019t know, but I would imagine because they get\u2026 you know, Colbert has better ratings than Kimmel or Fallon.\u201d<\/p>\n However, in a July 29 Truth Social post, Trump denied having any involvement in Colbert\u2019s firing, writing, \u201cEverybody is saying that I was solely responsible for the firing of Stephen Colbert from CBS, Late Night. That is not true! The reason he was fired was a pure lack of TALENT, and the fact that this deficiency was costing CBS $50 Million Dollars a year in losses \u2014 And it was only going to get WORSE!\u201d<\/p>\n He again went on to add that Kimmel and Fallon would be next, saying, \u201cThe only real question is, who will go first? Show Biz and Television is a very simple business. If you get Ratings, you can say or do anything. If you don\u2019t, you always become a victim.
