The Sussexes are unlikely to travel back to the United Kingdom together in the near future after Prince Harry claimed he has \u2018genuine concerns\u2019 about his wife\u2019s safety in the country.<\/p>\n

Harry<\/a> and Meghan<\/a>, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, completed their exodus from the UK in 2020 after stepping down as senior working royals<\/a> .<\/p>\n

Swapping Frogmore Cottage for the \u2018sleepy little town\u2019 of Montecito, California<\/a> – home of Rob Lowe, Oprah Winfrey, and Gwyneth Paltrow – the pair are kept busy Stateside, raising their two children, Prince Archie<\/a>, six, and Princess Lilibet<\/a>, four.<\/p>\n

After leaving England<\/a> five years ago, Meghan, 44, now runs her own lifestyle business<\/a> from the state, which also served as the setting for her smash-hit Netflix<\/a> show, With Love, Meghan<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Harry, 40, continues to work on the Invictus Games, often travels<\/a> abroad for engagements, and released his bombshell autobiography Spare<\/em><\/a> in January 2023, and it\u2019s been made clear that they are there to stay in California.<\/p>\n

Harry has previously said he feared for his wife’s safety if they were to return to the UK (Instagram\/@meghan)<\/cite><\/div>\n

Last year, the Prince took part in the ITV<\/a> documentary Tabloids on Trial,<\/em> where he explained why he\u2019s hesitant to bring Meghan back to his home.<\/p>\n

During the investigative programme<\/a>, which documented how he and other celebrities<\/a> had become victims of newspapers\u2019 \u2018unlawful tactics\u2019, Harry said the way the media has covered Meghan has caused him \u2018genuine concern\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll it takes is for one lone actor who reads this stuff to act on what they’ve read,\u201d he confessed.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd whether it’s a knife or acid, these are things that are genuine concerns for me. It’s one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the High Court informed the Duke that a 2020 decision made by Ravec, the body responsible for the security of high-level figures, to downgrade his high-level police protection for when he is back in the country, would be upheld.<\/p>\n

Judge Sir Geoffrey Vos handed down the legal ruling at the Royal Courts of Justice in May.<\/p>\n

At the time, the judge said that although the royal\u2019s safety concerns were both \u2018powerful and moving\u2019, his \u2018sense of grievance\u2019 did not \u2018translate into a legal argument\u2019, as per<\/a> Sky News.<\/p>\n

Harry, who was challenging the decision of High Court judge Sir Peter Lane made in February 2024, where he ruled that Ravec was right to downgrade his security, issued a statement afterwards<\/p>\n

He claimed the UK<\/a> was still his \u2018home\u2019, despite not living there for half a decade.<\/p>\n

“The UK is central to the heritage of my children<\/a> and a place I want them to feel at home, as much as where they live at the moment in the United States<\/a>,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat cannot happen if it’s not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil.<\/p>\n

\u201cI cannot put my wife in danger like that and, given my experiences in life, I am reluctant to unnecessarily put myself in harm’s way too.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
