Snoop admitted he was unprepared to answer those questions in the middle of a kids\u2019 film.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m scared to go to the movies. Like, y\u2019all throwing me in the middle of s\u2013t that I don\u2019t have an answer for,\u201d Snoop said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt threw me for a loop. I\u2019m like what part of the movie was this? These are kids that we have to show that at this age, like, they\u2019re going to ask questions. They are going to ask. I don\u2019t have an answer,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd I was just there to go to sleep and watch the movie. That s\u2013t woke me up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After his comments were widely shared \u2014 sparking backlash from some progressives on social media \u2014 \u201cThe Breakfast Club\u201d hosts\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JRYTO5AeWRY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">defended his remarks.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wouldn\u2019t have explained right then and there in the movie,\u201d comedian Jess Hilarious said. \u201cBut if my kid had a question, I would tell him, \u2018Well, we know two women can\u2019t make a baby. Two men can\u2019t make a baby. I don\u2019t want to have to explain any of this in a cartoon or a movie if I\u2019m taking my child,\u201d Envy said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not sure the age of his grandson, but I don\u2019t want to have to explain this to my 3 year old, my 6 year old, my 7 year old, 8 year old. And not just whether it\u2019s gay, whether it\u2019s hetero as well. I don\u2019t want to see that if they\u2019re fighting in galaxy land,\u201d Envy said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Snoop Dogg said he had trouble explaining a same-sex relationship featured in the movie \u201cLightyear\u201d after watching it with his grandson. <span class=\"credit\">DISNEY<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He added that he would avoid taking his child to see movies with those themes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to explain that story. And if that is part of the story, then I\u2019m not going to take my child because I want my kid to just be a kid who enjoys movies and has fun and not have to think about girl on girl, guy on guy, guy on girl, alien on person. Like, I don\u2019t want them to think about any of that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Co-host\u00a0Charlamagne tha God\u00a0also came to Snoop\u2019s defense and pushed back on his critics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I sit here right now, I wouldn\u2019t know how to answer that question either,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just trying to watch a movie. Now I got to Google this later and explain to my kids, \u2018You know, women can adopt or she might have had a surrogate.\u2019 That\u2019s just not a question I want to be asked or answer while I\u2019m sitting here watching this children\u2019s movie with my grandchild.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Charlamagne tha God said he also wouldn\u2019t want to have to explain to a child how a same-sex couple can have a child after watching a movie. <span class=\"credit\">Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He continued, \u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s anything wrong with expressing that. And I think everybody who has outrage over that, y\u2019all are part of the problem with this society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Charlamagne said that the rapper\u2019s detractors should\u2019ve treated his comments as a \u201cteachable moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstead of being so ready to tear somebody down and crucify a person, how about use this moment to teach?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLightyear\u201d faced backlash in 2022 for featuring a same-sex kiss between a lesbian couple in the film. The kiss was initially removed but later <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/03\/18\/same-sex-kiss-restored-to-pixars-lightyear-after-employees-slam-disney\/\">restored after\u00a0internal backlash\u00a0from Pixar employees<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Actor Chris Evans, who voiced Buzz Lightyear in the movie,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/06\/15\/chris-evans-calls-critics-of-lightyear-same-sex-kiss-idiots\/\">blasted critics\u00a0of the film at the time.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe real truth is those people are idiots,\u201d Evans said during a June 2022 interview with Reuters Television. \u201cThere\u2019s always going to be people who are afraid and unaware and trying to hold on to what was before. But those people die off like dinosaurs.
