1000-Lb. Sisters<\/em><\/a> star Katie Slaton<\/strong>, the cousin of Tammy<\/strong><\/a> and Amy Slaton<\/strong><\/a>, has died after a battle with cancer. She was 37 years old.<\/p>\n

Tammy and Amy\u2019s sister, Amanda Halterman<\/strong>, announced the news of their cousin\u2019s death via Instagram<\/a> on Tuesday, August 26.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt [is] with a completely crushed heart and spirit that I have to post this. My little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday,\u201d Amanda, 44, wrote alongside a photo of herself holding up a selection of cookies while Katie posed behind her, wearing a sheriff\u2019s badge sticker on her T-shirt and a pair of aviator-style sunglasses. \u201cShe was a force to be reckoned with and showed love that was accepting and given freely. She was the life of the part and my best friend.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amanda continued, \u201cI know both our grandparents and friends was there to welcome you home. Please pray for my aunt, uncle and cousins, but mostly for the babies and for Natalie to be strong. Please pray for everyone whom loves her. \ud83d\udc94Thank you all who has come out and supported her.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTammy Slaton\u00a0has made major changes, and she\u2019s letting fans in on all of her hard work. The 1000-lb Sisters star, 38, was spotted by a fan in Shawneetown, Illinois, who shared a video of the encounter on TikTok on Sunday, June 8 \u2014 and it\u2019s clear she\u2019s continued to make progress on her health journey. [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The reality star concluded with the hashtag, \u201c#CancerSucks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Katie died on Monday, August 25, at Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana, according to her obituary page on Whitsell Funeral Home\u2019s website<\/a>. She is survived by her parents, Jerry<\/strong> and Frances Slaton<\/strong>, brother Jeremiah Slaton<\/strong> and his wife Marci<\/strong>, brother Jesse Slaton<\/strong> and his wife Erica<\/strong>, partner Natalie Bailie<\/strong>, and Katie\u2019s three children, Landon, Liam and Lily.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe enjoyed fishing, music, and hanging out with family and friends,\u201d the obituary reads.<\/p>\n

Katie made several appearances in 1000-Lb. Sisters<\/em>, especially in season 5, when Tammy, 39, was released from a weight loss rehab center.<\/p>\n

Katie was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric adenocarcinoma, a rare form of stomach cancer, earlier this year. Natalie shared via Facebook in February that Kate had begun chemotherapy the month prior.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a hard week, but afterwards Katie\u2019s symptoms with her cancer seemed to improve. She was less nauseous and vomiting was few and far between. Still not back to where she was but it\u2019s a big improvement,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

Natalie continued, \u201cAfter a bout with Covid and pneumonia, Katie had her second chemo treatment yesterday. She feels the muscle and joint aches, some nausea, and fatigue but is much better this round than the last. We are so thankful that her symptoms are improving. Both our families have been so great throughout this whole process. We could not get through this without you! Thank you everyone for the thoughts and prayers! #Katiestrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

One day before announcing Katie\u2019s death, Amanda took to Instagram to ask for prayers.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease whisper a prayer for our family as we continue to support Katie Slaton,\u201d she wrote, alongside a photo of Katie holding an infant and smiling. \u201cI am so thankful to be allowed to stand by your side.\u201d<\/p>\n
