Said viral trend recently kicked into high gear and started commanding headlines, but the wheels have been in motion for a while here. Three months ago, for instance, Radiohead diehards took to Reddit to discuss<\/a>\u00a0the stream-volume momentum behind \u201cLet Down.\u201d<\/p>\n Based on the attached screenshot, the 1997 effort appeared to be second only to \u201cCreep\u201d in daily consumption at the time. And other posts \u2013 one<\/a> dating back to the top of 2025 \u2013 also explored the OK Computer <\/em>track\u2019s long-running TikTok ascent.<\/p>\n But as noted, things have ramped up as of late due to the trend, which, as explained by TechCrunch, centers on setting the track to \u201call sorts of emotional videos.\u201d That includes but certainly isn\u2019t limited to a brief highlight reel featuring Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler, who\u2019s set to undergo season-ending surgery.<\/p>\n Right now, a one-minute \u201cLet Down\u201d live performance clip is sitting atop the Radiohead TikTok profile\u2019s \u201cpopular\u201d section with a cool 10.2 million plays and north of 1.8 million likes to its credit.<\/p>\n Of course, logic and evidence \u2013 referring to TikTok\u2019s generally young userbase and different legacy acts\u2019 viral trends<\/a> \u2013 suggest that Radiohead is reaching an entirely new fan segment. Just as significantly, the commercial results are seemingly extending to a number of markets.<\/p>\n One example: \u201cLet Down\u201d remains in Spotify\u2019s Singapore Top 50 playlist, which is updated daily and, according to Chartmetric data, initially added the song on August 14th. Plus, \u201cCreep\u201d (but not \u201cLet Down\u201d) is ranked on the same chart\u2019s U.S. and global counterparts.<\/p>\n Additionally, OK Computer <\/em>has landed at the 155th spot on the Billboard 200, with \u201cLet Down\u201d ranked 91st on the Hot 100.<\/p>\n It doesn\u2019t really need saying, but the episode underscores TikTok\u2019s continued potential as a music-promotion tool. On the other hand, elements of the short-form giant\u2019s business model \u2013 see last year\u2019s hardball indie negotiations<\/a> \u2013 are definitely far from ideal.<\/p>\n And from an artistic and even a societal perspective, it\u2019d take quite a bit of text to unpack precisely what all this means. But as decried by some of the aforementioned Radiohead superfans, those participating in the trend are essentially mass-posting a 10-second snippet of a five-minute song, itself supposed to be enjoyed as part of a 53-minute album.<\/p>\n <\/div>\nThough the TikTok presence of \u201cLet Down\u201d is open ended, the listenership surge is clear cut. <\/strong><\/h4>\n
All told, \u201cLet Down\u201d has made its way into over 426,000 TikTok posts and racked up in excess of 256 million on-platform plays in the process, per Chartmetric stats once again. <\/strong><\/h4>\n
