Emil Wakim, a featured player during the show\u2019s 50th season, announced his departure from the show via Instagram<\/a> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI won\u2019t be returning to \u2018SNL<\/a>\u2019 next year,\u201d is how the Lebanese-American comedian began the post. \u201cIt was a gut punch of a call to get, but I\u2019m so grateful for my time there.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Wakim said he learned he was canned while at Six Flags Amusement Park celebrating his friend\u2019s 36th birthday and reacted to the news by going on \u201ca really emotional walk through Bugs Bunny Park and stared out across Daffy Duck Lake thinking about life.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He then related how he felt every time he entered the NBC building, thinking, \u201chow insane it is to get to work there.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Wakim said working on \u201cSNL\u201d was \u201cthe most terrifying, thrilling, and rewarding experience of my life and I will miss it dearly and all the brilliant people that work there that made it feel like a home.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He then thanked the show\u2019s producers for \u201ctaking a chance on me and changing my life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Current \u201cSNL\u201d cast member Chloe Fineman commented on Wakim\u2019s post, saying she\u2019d miss \u201csitting next to the best dressed man at table read!!!\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
