Bruce Willis\u2019 wife has discussed her \u201chard decision\u201d on moving the actor out of the family home as he battles dementia, insisting it\u2019s what he would want.<\/p>\n

Emma Heming \u2014 who married Willis in 2009 \u2014 moved the Die Hard star into a separate home as he deteriorated following an aphasia diagnosis in 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cBruce would want that for our daughters,\u201d Heming explained of Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, on Emma and Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey \u2013 A Diane Sawyer Special.<\/p>\n

The 49-year-old added: \u201cHe would want them to be in a home that was more tailored to their needs, not his needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heming said that her kids still get to see their 70-year-old dad at his second house, which is not far from theirs, \u201ca lot\u201d of the time.<\/p>\n

Heming also brings Mabel and Evelyn over for breakfast and dinner visits.<\/p>\n

Willis \u2014 who is also the father of Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31, with ex-wife Demi Moore \u2014 is in the house with a full-time care team.<\/p>\n

Heming made the revelation while promoting her upcoming memoir, The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope and Yourself on the Caregiving Path, which is set to be released on September 9.<\/p>\n

In the book, she documents Willis\u2019 health struggles, which became public in 2022 when the Golden Globe winner retired from acting.<\/p>\n

According to the Australian Aphasia Association<\/a>, the debilitating condition affects a person\u2019s language and communication but does not affect intelligence.<\/p>\n

People living with aphasia can have difficulty understanding what others say, write, read and use gestures and numbers.<\/p>\n

In 2023, Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a progressive neurological disorder characterised by language problems, behavioural changes and mobility issues.<\/p>\n

Heming told viewers that Willis\u2019 family and friends now have a \u201cdifferent way\u201d of communicating with him as his language skills decline.<\/p>\n

In the rare update, she said: \u201cBruce is still very mobile. Bruce is in really great health overall, it\u2019s just his brain that is failing him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
