Aries Spears<\/a> confronted DJ Vlad<\/a> with a question about whether he switches up his language when interviewing Black guests.<\/p>\n \u201cI got one question I have to ask you that a fan wanted me to ask you, okay? Obsess.<\/a><\/p>\n When the comedian pressed whether phrases like \u201cnah mean\u201d are specifically meant to \u201cmake them feel comfortable,\u201d Vlad clarified that it\u2019s more about context and formality.<\/p>\n \u201cI don’t know about the \u2018nah mean\u2019, but I think just overall, if I’m speaking to, like, a governor, I’m gonna speak a little bit differently than if I’m speaking to like a rapper or comedian or something like that,\u201d Vlad said. \u201cI’ll be a lot more formal in my speech.\u201d<\/p>\n He also noted that his \u201cnatural speech\u201d comes out with people he\u2019s comfortable with, like Spears, while he may become \u201ca little bit more formal\u201d with certain white guests.<\/p>\n Vlad elaborated, \u201cI’ve interviewed governors before. I’ve interviewed, you know, mayors, I’ve interviewed billionaires, business people, and so forth. So I think my speech does change. I’m not gonna say it’s exactly the same on every interview.
