The Reading Royals,\u00a0proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms,\u00a0announced\u00a0that\u00a0Alyson Vecchia-Spooner, MS, LAT, ATC,\u00a0<\/strong>will serve as the team\u2019s athletic trainer. She becomes the first female athletic trainer in the franchise\u2019s 24-season history.<\/p>\n Vecchia-Spooner, a native of Danbury, Connecticut, will manage all matters related to the athletic training and medical treatment of the team\u2019s players. Vecchia-Spooner\u2019s services are provided through\u00a0St. Luke\u2019s University Health Network\u00a0and will begin immediately.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re excited to bring Alyson Vecchia-Spooner on as a member of the team\u2019s hockey operations staff and the first female athletic trainer in our franchise\u2019s history,\u201d stated\u00a0David Farrar, Team President. \u201cIt was imperative that we brought on an athletic trainer who holds the experience and skills necessary to properly manage the physical conditioning and medical treatment for our team.
