In this chapter of her life, The Bachelorette<\/i><\/span><\/a>\u2019s DeAnna Pappas<\/span><\/a><\/strong> is saying no to alcohol.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been the best decision that I ever could have made,\u201d Pappas, 43, exclusively shared with Us Weekly<\/i> while celebrating the launch of iHeartRadio\u2019s \u201cFamously Available\u201d podcast<\/span><\/a>. \u201cI feel so much better. I sleep really great, which is awesome. And the other piece is I\u2019ve become more clear on myself and more in touch with myself and also my higher power.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Pappas denied ever having any issues with alcohol, a custody battle with her estranged husband, Stephen Stagliano<\/strong>, in early June revealed that the reality star was more than 60 days sober<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a candid interview with Us<\/i>, Pappas explained what led to her decision to live a lifestyle without alcohol.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDeAnna Pappas and Stephen Stagliano called it quits after more than a decade of marriage \u2014 and things later got messy. Bachelor Nation was introduced to Pappas in 2007 while she competed for Brad Womack\u2019s heart. After the Bachelor chose to leave the show single, the former real estate agent was named the new Bachelorette [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI had dealt with a lot of loss in my life. \u2026 I had to grieve on every level,\u201d she explained. \u201cI didn\u2019t just grieve the loss of my marriage and my ex-husband, but the loss of his family, and in moments where I was in deep amounts of pain and sadness, I chose to drink. I mean, my affair was with alcohol and that\u2019s my piece to carry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pappas continued, \u201cI have chosen to give up alcohol. It clearly was unhealthy for me. \u2026 I just took a deep look at my life and where it was going, and it wasn\u2019t headed in a direction where I wanted to and if alcohol was the one thing that I could give up, then, by all means, I was willing to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

In January 2023, Pappas and Stagliano split after 11 years of marriage<\/span><\/a>. The couple \u2014 who share two children together \u2014 went through a public custody battle that was ultimately resolved in June.<\/p>\n

According to Pappas, giving up alcohol has had benefits for herself and her kids.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so present every day with my kids. I go to events and I no longer need the crutch of alcohol to feel like I belong because deep down, I always have belonged,\u201d she said. \u201cBut I started to use this unhealthy coping mechanism to feel better about myself, and I don\u2019t want to do that anymore. Honestly, I feel like I have a servant\u2019s heart, and if at the end of the day, if what I have had to go through touches just one person, brings one person hope to be different, or to choose to be different, or to make changes in their life, that\u2019s all I can hope for. If my story touches one person, then that would make me so happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, August 27, Pappas helped kick off iHeartRadio\u2019s new podcast titled \u201cFamously Available.\u201d Every week, host Ben Higgins<\/strong> will highlight single women like Pappas as they navigate a path of self-discovery and the rollercoaster of modern dating.<\/p>\n

Bachelor in Paradise<\/i><\/a><\/span> star Mercedes Northup<\/strong> and some beloved \u201cGoldens\u201d from the ABC franchise are expected to participate in the new podcast as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe there is someone out there for me,\u201d Pappas told Us<\/i>. \u201cI truly do. I believe there is someone who will love me and accept me and all of my good and all of my bad.\u201d<\/p>\n
