Big Brother 27<\/em><\/a> Houseguest Rylie Jeffries<\/strong> said it was \u201cheartbreaking\u201d to see viewers\u2019 reactions to his behavior toward showmance partner<\/a> Katherine Woodman<\/strong> upon leaving the house on August 21.<\/p>\n Speaking to Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a> a week after his eviction, Rylie, 27, defended his behavior, which many live feed watchers saw as controlling and verbally abusive.<\/p>\n \u201cI understand how things may have come across, but I speak with passion,\u201d he said in the story, published Thursday, August 28. \u201cI love with my whole heart, and maybe that intensity was misunderstood. I would never intentionally disrespect anyone, especially Katherine.\u201d<\/p>\n There were a number of instances shown on the feeds (but not in episodes) that concerned fans, including Rylie becoming upset with Katherine, 23, for not wanting to kiss him or sleep in the same bed, as well as telling her, \u201cI\u2019m being with you outside of this, whether you like it or not.\u201d<\/p>\n \t\t<\/a><\/p>\n \n\t\t\tControversies are nothing new for Big Brother. The show has been criticized for racism and discrimination over the years, making major waves with an incident that occurred in season 15. During the 2013 season, Aaryn Gries referred to Asian people as \u201csquinty-eyed,\u201d called her Black roommate Candice Stewart \u201cAunt Jemima\u201d and asked her Korean housemate\u00a0Helen [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Now outside of the house, Rylie said that Katherine is \u201cher own person, makes her own choices.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI think some moments just don\u2019t reflect who I truly am,\u201d he said. \u201cMy intentions have always come from a place of care and loyalty, not control.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s heartbreaking to be misunderstood,\u201d he continued. \u201cPeople online don\u2019t know me, but my friends, family, fellow Houseguests and Katherine do, and that\u2019s what\u2019s important. I spent every day in that house with people who truly know me, who see the real me: someone who\u2019s loving, funny and full of heart. It hurts to be painted as aggressive when all I\u2019ve ever done is lead with passion and care.\u201d<\/p>\n But fans aren\u2019t the only ones who were concerned by Riley\u2019s behavior. Katherine\u2019s parents have spoken out as well, with her father, Matt<\/strong>, calling the feeds<\/a> \u201cvery hard to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t
