Emilie Kiser<\/strong> is reflecting on the death of 3-year-old son Trigg \u2014 and how it could have potentially been prevented.<\/p>\n

\u201cI take full accountability as Trigg\u2019s mother, and I know I should have done more to protect him,\u201d Kiser wrote via Instagram on Thursday, August 28. \u201cOne of the hardest lessons I carry is that a permanent pool fence could have saved his life, and it\u2019s something I will never overlook again. I hope amidst this pain, Trigg\u2019s story will help prevent other children and families from suffering the same loss.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kiser shared that \u201cno family should ever have to endure\u201d the \u201cpain, heartache and void\u201d<\/a> they have experienced, calling son Trigg \u201cour baby and best friend.\u201d Kiser noted that the family is appreciative to their loved ones and online community for their support in the months following Trigg\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only way through grief is to keep going minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day and every moment since that day I\u2019ve done my best to keep picking myself up,\u201d she wrote. \u201cWhen I started on social media in 2021 as a new mom, my goal was to connect with other moms and find a community. I have found that and so much more through all of you. I found a community, a hobby I love and a job I am so grateful for.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Chandler, Arizona, Police Department confirmed to Us Weekly in May that Trigg died. Emilie has yet to publicly address her son\u2019s death but filed a lawsuit in [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She continued, \u201cI have always been my authentic self on social media and tried my best to share my everyday life honestly, while also being mindful of what I didn\u2019t choose to share. I now have seen through this tragedy how relationships online lack boundaries, especially in protecting children\u2019s privacy. Moving forward, I will be establishing more boundaries with what I share online.\u201d<\/p>\n

Three months before Kiser\u2019s statement, the Chandler, Arizona, Police Department confirmed to Us Weekly<\/em> that Trigg died on May 18 after being pulled unconscious from the family\u2019s backyard pool days before.<\/p>\n

The next month, police records indicated that Emilie\u2019s husband, Brady Kiser,<\/strong> was watching Trigg and newborn son Teddy alone as the 3-year-old played in the backyard \u2014 something he shared was \u201cnot uncommon.\u201d Brady claimed that the pool typically had a protective cover. (While investigators submitted a criminal charge recommendation for Brady, Maricopa County Attorney\u2019s Office later shared that there is \u201cno likelihood of conviction<\/a>\u201d against him.)<\/p>\n

A redacted police report in August confirmed that the pool covers were not in place at the time, with investigators observing a \u201clarge netting and a fabric top rolls up onto PVC carriers\u201d near the water.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was later learned that the covers were in place most of the time, but were recently removed so the family could enjoy the pool. They were never replaced,\u201d police noted.<\/p>\n
