Teen Mom<\/em> star Tyler Baltierra<\/strong> opened up about a recent determination that he called a \u201csigh of relief.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tyler, 33, was diagnosed with autism after previously being misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got really sad and I was like, \u2018Wow!\u2019\u201d he said during a recent episode of his podcast<\/a> Cate & Ty: Break It Down<\/em> with wife Catelynn Baltierra<\/strong>. \u201cI just thought about all the things I went through as a kid. I just felt so sad for that little kid who wondered, \u2018What\u2019s wrong with me? Something\u2019s wrong, why am I not normal?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The reality star added, \u201cIf I would have known about my stuff, being autistic or being on the spectrum, would that have changed my therapy? It got me thinking, \u2018Wow, there\u2019s so many things that could have been different.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Tyler explained that he began seeing similarities in his 6-year-old daughter, Vaeda<\/strong>, which prompted him to get tested.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst thing I noticed is that small things [that] should not be a big deal are a huge deal to [Vaeda],\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am who I am. It\u2019s just the way my brain works,\u201d added the 16 & Pregnant<\/em> alum, who shares daughters Novalee<\/strong>, 10, Vaeda and Rya,<\/strong> 3, with Catelynn. (They\u2019re also parents to Carly<\/strong>, 16, whom they placed up for adoption at birth.)<\/p>\n

\u201cInstead of trying to fix it, it\u2019s like, \u2018OK, let\u2019s just live with this thing,\u201d he said, before agreeing to get Vaeda tested for autism.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
