The NCIS<\/a> and NCIS: Origins<\/a> universes will collide once again during season 2 with a tribute to the one and only Ducky.<\/p>\n Adam Campbell<\/strong>, who played Young Ducky on the flagship series, is set to reprise his role on an upcoming episode of NCIS: Origins, CBS announced on Thursday, August 28.<\/p>\n The fall episode will double as a tribute to the late David McCallum<\/strong><\/a>, who portrayed fan-favorite Dr. Donald \u201cDucky\u201d Mallard on NCIS<\/a> for 20 seasons. (Campbell, meanwhile, played the younger version of Ducky on four episodes of the original series from 2014 to 2020.)<\/p>\n “We wanted to do this episode to honor the memory of our dear friend David McCallum. He was a beloved member of the NCIS family for so many years,\u201d NCIS: Origins showrunners and executive producers Gina Lucita Monreal<\/strong> and David J. We\u2019re all very excited and can\u2019t wait for the fans to see it!”<\/p>\n During the upcoming episode, titled \u201cThe Edge,\u201d Campbell\u2019s Ducky is \u201csent to Camp Pendleton to shadow the team while they work a case,\u201d according to the official logline. Once there, Ducky \u201creconnects with Gibbs [Austin Stowell<\/strong><\/a>] after the two crossed paths years earlier.\u201d<\/p>\n NCIS fans met the OG Ducky \u2014 a chief medical examiner \u2014 during the series premiere in 2003. DiNozzo did his best British accent and told Jimmy that as Ducky always said, it\u2019s not just the \u201cstories we leave behind\u201d that will be remembered, it\u2019s the people\u2019s \u201clives we touched.\u201d<\/p>\n NCIS: Origins, meanwhile, follows a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Stowell) at the start of his career in NIS in the \u201890s, well before he became the leader at NCIS\u2019 Washington, D.C., headquarters.<\/p>\n During season 1, viewers got to know a young Gibbs as well as his mentor, a young Mike Franks<\/a> (Kyle Schmid<\/strong>). During the season finale<\/a>, Gibbs\u2019 future second wife, Diane Sterling (Kathleen Kenny<\/strong>), made a brief cameo, hinting that their story line would unfold next.
