Producers have not confirmed whether she will return later in the season. Epatha Merkerson, who portrays the character of Sharon Goodwin, and Oliver Platt, who plays Dr. Daniel Charles, as the final two original cast members returning for the new season. Maggie has been a key figure at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, serving as charge nurse and confidante to many staff members. In Season 10, her story included a close friendship with Dr. John Frost, played by Darren Barnet.<\/p>\n In 2022, Barrett revealed that doctors diagnosed her with uterine and ovarian cancer. She underwent chemotherapy and surgery and later announced that the cancer had gone into remission.
