George Clooney<\/a> had to miss the press conference for his new Netflix<\/a> movie Jay Kelly<\/a>, which launches this week at the Venice Film Festival, due to what the festival moderator described as a \u201cbad sinus infection.\u201d<\/p>\n

The press conference moderator said Clooney<\/a> \u201cshould\u201d be at this evening\u2019s world premiere screening but the conditional tense left the door open to him not to being able to make it.<\/p>\n

The moderator added that Clooney was sorry not to make the press conference and his co-star Adam Sandler<\/a> quipped that \u201ceven movie stars get sick.\u201d Co-star Laura Dern<\/a> disclosed that Clooney was \u201cdevastated\u201d not to be at the event.<\/p>\n

It emerged last night that Clooney \u2014 who was photographed arriving at the festival earlier this week \u2014 had to cut back on press duties due to the illness and also missed a cast and crew dinner.<\/p>\n
