Mark Ruffalo<\/strong>, who stars in the HBO crime drama miniseries Task<\/strong>, recently revealed how he prepared for his role as an FBI agent in the show by eating \u201ca lot of Philly cheesesteak sandwiches.\u201d<\/p>\n The upcoming show is helmed by Brad Ingelsby, best known for his work on Kate Winslet\u2019s Mare of Easttown. It follows Tom Brandis (Ruffalo), an FBI agent who leads a task force to thwart a string of violent robberies spearheaded by Robbie Prendergast (Tom Pelphrey).<\/p>\n Mark Ruffalo recently gave an interview at the All The President\u2019s Men benefit reading supporting CWP and preservation of West Park. He revealed that he explored Philadelphia\u2019s cuisine while preparing for his role in Task, which is set in the city.<\/p>\n \u201cI ate a lot of Philly cheesesteak sandwiches,\u201d Ruffalo told PEOPLE<\/a>. \u201cI just put a bunch of weight on.\u201d<\/p>\n In addition, The Avengers actor shared that he consulted FBI agent Scott Duffey to ensure accuracy in his portrayal of Tom Brandis. \u201cI spent a lot of time with FBI agent Scott Duffey,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s about the most I did.\u201d<\/p>\n Ruffalo said that he was now focused on the press tour for the series. \u201cI\u2019m really excited about it,\u201d he further stated.<\/p>\n In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Brad Ingelsby revealed that Ruffalo \u201cwas at the top of\u201d the actor\u2019s list while conceptualizing Tom Brandis\u2019 character. The showrunner realized \u201csomeone extremely specific\u201d was needed for the role. \u201cThe guy\u2019s from the Northeast, he\u2019s humble, he has a very specific perspective on life, and he has adopted children,\u201d Ingelsby shared.<\/p>\n Task is set to premiere on HBO on September 7, 2025. Subsequent episodes will be released every week until October 19, 2025. The series will also stream on Max.
