As fans continue to wait for details regarding The Authority<\/strong> movie\u2019s status in the DCU, James Gunn<\/strong> has shared yet another disappointing update about the ensemble project, as well as the much-awaited introduction of DC hero Static Shock<\/strong> in his revamped cinematic universe. In a recent interview, the DC Studios co-CEO shed light on why he\u2019s facing troubles in integrating the two superhero entities into Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters of the DCU.<\/p>\n While speaking with\u00a0The New Blerd Order<\/a>\u00a0during his appearance at the red carpet premiere of Peacemaker\u00a0Season 2, James Gunn divulged that the big-screen debut of Static Shock has been delayed for so long due to his unorthodox stature in the traditional version of the DC universe. He then likened the African-American character\u2019s position to that of The Authority, citing similar problems in launching the superhero team in the DCU.<\/p>\n The Guardians of the Galaxy director said, \u201cIt\u2019s all about integrating him with the DC Universe because he\u2019s not a character that\u2019s traditionally part of the DC Universe.\u201d James Gunn then added, \u201cIt\u2019s kind of like \u2018The Authority.\u2019 So, like, \u2018The Authority\u2019s been a little bit of a challenge simply because integrating [them] with the DCU has been a difficult thing to do, and the same thing is true of the Static Shock. Hopefully, we\u2019ll figure out a way to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite announcing the film around two years ago, Gunn has failed to provide an encouraging update regarding The Authority\u2019s status ever since.
