Alabama Shakes have returned with their first new song in 10 years.<\/p>\n

With Brittany Howard’s powerhouse vocals channelling ’60s\u00a0soul, evoking the energy of Janis Joplin and Otis Redding, Another Life marks the\u00a0blues-rock trio’s debut for their new label home Island Records, and their first original track since their 2015 album ‘Sound & Color’. In a statement, Howard shared:<\/p>\n

“When I wrote Another Life,\u00a0I was thinking about all the lives we carry. The ones we’re living right now, the ones that slipped away because of different choices, the what ifs, the what wasn’t meant to be, the goodbyes, and the chance encounters that feel divine. This song is about those threads and how they stretch across time and space, connecting every version of who we are. It\u2019s about letting them come together, letting them harmonize, and realizing that goodbye isn\u2019t really goodbye. It\u2019s more like I\u2019ll see you later.\u00a0A collective story that never stops unfolding. I\u2019m glad we opened this door into this reality of us making music together again.”<\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\nSince their last album, they\u00a0released a 10th anniversary deluxe edition of their debut LP, ‘Boys & Girls’, in 2022. Howard has also dropped two solo albums:\u00a02024’s Grammy-nominated\u00a0‘What Now’ and 2019’s ‘Jaime’, the latter of\u00a0which was followed by a reimagined version in 2021. She has also contributed to the soundtracks of the Netflix original animated film\u00a0Thelma the Unicorn\u00a0and\u00a0Ethan Coen’s\u00a0Honey Don’t!.<\/p>\n
