Sabrina Carpenter<\/a> makes music for herself and for her fans\u2014not for her pearl-clutching haters.<\/p>\n The pop singer has gotten plenty of backlash for her Man\u2019s Best Friend<\/em> album covers<\/a>, the first which showed her on all fours, her hair being pulled by a man in a suit. But the criticism regarding her provocative stage persona\u2014from her hot costumes to her dance moves and flirty lyrics\u2014is nothing new, and she also really doesn\u2019t care.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is not for the pearl clutchers. The album is not for any pearl clutchers, no,\u201d the 26-year-old told Gayle King in a CBS Mornings<\/a> interview.<\/p>\n \u201cBut I also think that even pearl clutchers can listen to an album like that in their own solitude and find something that makes them smirk and chuckle to themselves,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n Carpenter noted that critics tend to get caught up with the sexuality of her songs, but really, there is so much more to her music. It\u2019s powerful, it\u2019s vulnerable, and sometimes it\u2019s just pure fun.<\/p>\n She said: \u201cSometimes people hear the lyrics that are really bold and they go, I don\u2019t wanna sing this in front of other people!<\/em> It\u2019s TMI. But I think about being at a concert with however many young women I see in the front row that are screaming at the top of their lungs with their best friends, and you can go, oh we can all like… sigh of relief, like this is just fun, and that\u2019s all it has to be.\u201d<\/p>\n
