My\u00e1<\/a> says she has never had a desire for marriage and children.<\/p>\n In a conversation with Melyssa Ford for the Hot and Bothered podcast, the singer shared why marriage and children have never been a driving force in her life.<\/p>\n \u201cIt’s not even my focus and it never has been,\u201d the 45-year-old told Ford near the 24-minute mark in the video linked above, noting how witnessing her parents\u2019 divorce and other experiences shaped her perspective from a young age.<\/p>\n \u201cI’ve always thought a little different,\u201d she said. \u201cThe white wedding dress, I was very fearful of those things, so I looked elsewhere and probably escaped too much in my work and \u2018keep going.\u2019 But also I think being independent has forced me to show up for myself and obviously family, friends, and this operation because I have a mission and I have a vision, but it requires me to be gone and that’s also very, very much fear filled.<\/p>\n COMPLEX SHOP:<\/b> Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. Obsess.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cKnowing that if I have to be gone 95% of the time, and my work calls for me to travel\u2014that must be intimidating, and I also can’t show up properly for my significant other. But I’m also now spiritually aligned so much where I know that I’m surrounded by love everywhere I go, right?\u201d<\/p>\n My\u00e1 insisted she is \u201cnot seeking\u201d and that love \u201cwill be granted to me in divine time.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI’m not worried about it because my life is full of love and it comes in so many different forms\u2014not just one person, so I’ve had to recalibrate my brain,\u201d she added. \u201cAnd not, I think, govern my life off of this fantasy or illusion that we’ve all been indoctrinated by or taught by \u2026 I’m very happy with myself, but that also required me to strip a lot of things that are expected of me on a specific timeline for the society that we grew up in to have. I’m talking about marriage, I’m talking about kids, and if you don’t have it, \u2018something’s wrong with you,\u2019 right?\u201d<\/p>\n She added, \u201cBut did I desire it? No, not with what I’ve witnessed, and not with what I’ve been through.\u201d<\/p>\n Still, the \u201cMy Love Is Like…Wo\u201d singer remains open to the possibility, even if it hasn\u2019t been a priority.<\/p>\n \u201cNot to say it’s not possible, and I’m not open to it, you know? I’m open to all things, but right now I’m on a specific assignment. That’s all,\u201d she said further into the episode.<\/p>\n \u201cJust because it’s not on your timeline that you wish for [women], or what is expected of\u2014and that goes for men too. I think everyone is an individual and we lead different lives. I don’t think everyone’s life is supposed to be congruent to each other. Live your life to the fullest and whatever and however that looks, it’s not supposed to look the same,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n My\u00e1 threw a wedding ceremony for herself in early 2020, signing the Instagram post with “Officially Mrs. Lansky” in the caption.
