Country music star Carly Pearce recently sat down with Bunnie Xo for an interview on her \u201cDumb Blonde\u201d podcast and these days that means there will be headlines.<\/p>\n
Bunnie, who is the wife of country music star Jelly Roll, has a way of getting folks to spill all the tea, and one of the big headlines coming out of this recent episode was Pearce\u2019s revelation about her divorce from Michael Ray. <\/p>\n
The two actually split back in 2020, and Pearce has talked about it before, but she opened up in a big way with Bunnie.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought he was so cute,\u201d Pearce said remembering when the two first met back in 2018. \u201cI\u2019d heard he\u2019s the nicest guy in the world. I invited him to my (Billboard Country Airplay) No. 1 party for \u2018Every Little Thing.\u2019 Looking back on it, it was a hot and heavy lust. It wasn\u2019t love. It was just passionate.<\/p>\n
\u201cI got married to go the distance,\u201d she added. \u201cWhen I married him it was for the right reasons. I think when you travel like this, I thought I was doing the right thing to get married till I was 29. But we didn\u2019t have real conversations, and we didn\u2019t really know about each other. We were kind of living this life that wasn\u2019t really reality. I think we didn\u2019t really know each other. I knew the night I got married that I shouldn\u2019t have. I think the best thing that ever happened to me was COVID, because it allowed me to deal with that in private. I think that I probably would have stayed in it longer if I could have avoided it and not had to. I was embarrassed when it happened \u2026 and was heartbroken.\u201d<\/p>\n
Billboard noted that Pearce filed for divorce<\/b><\/a> less than a year after the two were married. <\/p>\n \u201cIt wasn\u2019t what I signed up for,\u201d she said. \u201cIt just wasn\u2019t the marriage that I know I deserved. I knew that very quickly. We were only married for eight months. Plenty happened to where it was very clear to me this was not, this just wasn\u2019t a marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n She did tell Bunnie Xo that despite the heartbreak she was thankful for \u201cthe lessons learned from the marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThank you, because you taught me how strong I am,\u201d she said. \u201cYou put me through things that have made me better now. And I don\u2019t wish him evil. I don\u2019t wish anything on him.
