Lauren Gunderson<\/a> \u2014 who is credited for contributing \u201cadditional screenplay material\u201d for \u201cLightyear\u201d \u2014 revealed on Threads that she \u201ccreated\u201d the lesbians when, while writing early versions of what would later become the film back in 2018, \u201ca key character needed a partner.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIt was so natural to write \u2018she\u2019 instead of \u2018he,\u2019\u201d wrote Gunderson<\/a> in part of a series of posts on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cAs small as that detail is in the film, I knew the representational effect it could have. Small line, big deal. I was elated that they kept it. I\u2019m proud of it. To infinity. <\/span>Love is love.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n The film \u2014 which serves as an origin story for Buzz Lightyear of the \u201cToy Story\u201d movies \u2014 sees Alisha Hawthorne, Buzz\u2019s best friend and commanding officer, married to another woman and sharing a kiss.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Snoop, on a recent episode<\/a> of the \u201cIt\u2019s Giving\u201d podcast, said his grandson asked him how a woman could have a baby with another woman while watching \u201cLightyear\u201d together.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cAh, shit. I didn\u2019t come in for this shit, I just came to watch the goddamn movie,\u201d said the rapper, who once told celebrity.land that he supported gay marriage<\/a> and once had a cameo<\/a> on the groundbreaking lesbian TV drama \u201cThe L Word\u201d back in 2004.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n He later added, \u201cIt threw me for a loop. I\u2019m like, these are kids, we have to show that at this age? They\u2019re going to ask questions.
