The North Valley Music School invites the public to a free concert, \u201cRomantic Echoes,\u201d in its new location near Smith Fields at 1998 River Lakes Parkway, on Sept. 3 at 5:30 p.m. The concert is part of Montana Chamber Music\u2019s outreach series.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Music professors at Montana State University, violinist Angella Ahn and pianist Julie Gosswiller, will be playing selections from Price, Schnittke and Strauss.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Korean American violinist Ahn is a recitalist, chamber musician, and educator. She has performed in each of the United States and in over 35 countries at venues as diverse as Buenos Aires\u2019 Teatro Colon, Vienna\u2019s Musikverein, New York\u2019s Lincoln Center and Leipzig\u2019s Gewandhaus. Ahn has collaborated and been featured with such musical luminaries as Phil Aaberg, Darol Anger, Rachel Barton Pine, Emmylou Harris, and the late John Prine.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A graduate of the Juilliard School, Ahn leverages her tutelage under foremost violin pedagogue Dorothy DeLay with her decades-long performance career, helping to shape the next generation of young musicians. She is Associate Professor of Violin and Viola at Montana State University and has given masterclasses throughout North America, Asia, and Europe.\u00a0<\/p>\n
One of Gosswiller\u2019s greatest passions in life is making music with other musicians. She has collaborated with many of her colleagues at Montana State University and with renowned musicians such as soprano Elizabeth Croy, Adam Barnett Hart of the Escher String Quartet, the Ahn Trio, Dallas Brass, and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Gosswiller\u2019s received the President\u2019s Excellence in Teaching Award. Her university students have won the Montana State University Concerto competition, and her private students have won the Montana Music Teachers Association Competition at the elementary, junior, and senior levels.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She earned a master\u2019s degree in piano performance from the University of Colorado, where she studied with Angela Cheng, Robert Spillman, and Doris Lehnert. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Montana Chamber Music is a nonprofit organization that brings world class chamber music to towns across Montana. It is presenting \u201cRomantic Echoes\u201d in Butte, St. Ignatius, Missoula, Whitefish, Helena, Bozeman and Idaho Falls.\u00a0<\/p>\n
