Each artist is given the chance to reimagine a hit song as they all compete to win the hearts of a live audience \u2014 all in good fun, of course.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIt&#8217;s not your traditional music competition. It&#8217;s very celebratory, it&#8217;s very warm hearted, and the big focus is the language of music,\u201d producer <strong>Moira Ross<\/strong> exclusively shared with <em>Us Weekly<\/em>. The team then set out to create a \u201cgreat TV show\u201d that would both bridge the K-pop world and Western pop world, sharing the incredible talent coming from each side.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">For Ross \u2014 who previously worked as a show runner on <em>The Voice UK<\/em> and <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/shows\/the-masked-singer\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:The Masked Singer;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><em>The Masked Singer<\/em><\/a> \u2014 the show\u2019s competition aspect came second to highlighting the ways in which music can unite people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cFrom my personal perspective, I know that what we wanted was a sheer joyful experience. So the competition is fun and light hearted, really, and it&#8217;s just pure celebration,\u201d Ross said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI think it was about K-pop,\u201d Hong said, explaining that their shared vision was focused on \u201ccelebrating music and creativity without borders.\u201d Ross added that it was especially important that the show remained authentic to Korean culture, inspiring their decision to film the show onsite in Seoul, South Korea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/entertainment\/pictures\/90s-pop-stars-then-and-now-w207755\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:\u201990s Pop Stars: Then and Now;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">\u201990s Pop Stars: Then and Now<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe really try to make sure we showcase Korea in a beautiful way,\u201d Ross told <em>Us<\/em>. They\u2019re incredibly grateful for each artist that participated, and Hong joked it was \u201calmost a miracle\u201d they were able to secure such a star-studded lineup. Hong was especially excited to bring a few legacy artists to Seoul. \u201cI was actually really proud to see Spice Girls and Boys II Men come to the show.
