French-Caribbean reggae artiste Yaniss Odua is pleased that his latest single, \u2018Lighta\u2019 has been given a \u2018stamp of approval\u2019 from the Jamaican audience, with the video for the project racking up over 1.4 million views on Youtube since its release.<\/p>\n
He is particularly pleased that the song is doing well in Jamaica, popping up on local mixtapes and generating play at the street dances in the Corporate Area.<\/p>\n
\u201cJamaica has given the song a huge stamp of approval, the song and video are gaining traction mostly in Jamaica, and the analytics show that 70 percent of the YouTube listening comes from the island, \u201d an excited Yaniss Odua said.<\/p>\n
The song is one of the most listened to songs in the top 100 of the Apple Music charts.<\/p>\n
The \u2018Lighta\u2019 song is based on the humorous \u2018lighter-disappearing\u2019 scenario that most Jamaican smokers know only too well.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe song \u201cLighta\u201d is a song that I wanted to write a good ten years ago, it\u2019s a story that all smokers know\u2026 I had put the idea away in the back of my mind, but my manager pushed me to bring it out. This is a common experience among smokers and reggae lovers\u2014the mysterious disappearance of lighters. You have a lighter now, and in two hours, it\u2019s gone. Somebody has taken it,\u201d Odua said, laughing.<\/p>\n
