Ain’t no party like a Bruce Springsteen \u201cBorn to Run\u201d party.<\/p>\n The Springsteen classic album, released from Columbia Record on Aug. 25, 1975, saw its 50th anniversary on Monday, Aug. 25 and there’s no stopping now. \u201cBorn to Run\u201d events are happening in the coming week to keep the celebration going.<\/p>\n Local talents will play in the Born to Run: A Jersey Shore Celebration Concert, presented by the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3 at Pollak Theatre on the campus of Monmouth University. The show will feature Williams Honor, Pat Roddy, Jake Thistle, Pat Guadagno and more, and two with a direct connection to the music Springsteen. They are Vini \u201cMad Dog\u201d Lopez, the founding member of the E Street Band, and Richard Blackwell, who played on \u201cThe Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle.\u201d<\/p>\n Blue Hawk Records, the student-run record label at Monmouth University, will release \u201cRunaway American Dream\u201d on Friday Sept. 5. It’s a reimagining of \u201cBorn to Run\u201d with elements of hip-hop, indie rock and electronic added to the mix.<\/p>\n \u201cThis project challenged our students to honor a rock ‘n’ roll classic while exploring its relevance for a new generation,\u201d said Joe Rapolla chair of Monmouth’s Department of Music and Theatre Arts and founding advisor of Blue Hawk Records in a statement. \u201cThey\u2019ve created something that is both innovative and deeply respectful of Springsteen\u2019s legacy.\u201d<\/p>\n
