Jude Law took a meticulous approach while portraying Vladimir Putin<\/a> in his latest role<\/a>.<\/p>\n The 52-year-old actor took on the role of the President of Russia<\/a> in Olivier Assayas’ The Wizard of the Kremlin, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday. Law described his portrayal of Putin as “a character in a much larger story.”<\/p>\n Law, who underwent a dramatic transformation for the role<\/a>, explained to AP why he accepted the role, saying, “I felt safe in the hands of Olivier. This is a story that was going to be told intelligently with nuance and consideration.<\/p>\n “We weren’t looking for controversy for controversy’s sake,” Law added. “We weren’t trying to define anything about anyone.”<\/p>\n The film is based on Giuliano da Empoli’s popular novel of the same name, which tells the story of Putin’s rise to power through the eyes of a fictional advisor named Vadim Baranov, played by Paul Dano.
