(FOX40.COM) \u2014\u00a0 Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the approval of new television projects that are set to bring in $1.1 billion to California\u2019s economy on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Video Above: Newsom announced a $700 million tax credit for California\u2019s struggling film and TV industry <\/strong><\/p>\n The governor recently expanded the California Film Commission\u2019s Film and Television Tax Credit Program in July, officials said. The program provides tax credits to productions made in California.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Film and Television Tax Credit Program is meeting the challenge of\u00a0creating jobs and keeping productions here at home,\u201d Executive Director of the California Film Commission, Colleen Bell, said.<\/p>\n California and Denmark sign MOU for climate and technology efforts <\/a><\/p>\n According to Newsom, this is the first round of tax credits since the program\u2019s expansion, which doubled the available funding for film and television production. This round saw a nearly 400% increase in applications when compared to the last round.<\/p>\n \u201cThese 22 television projects will employ thousands of Californians and generate hundreds of millions for our state\u2019s economy. Most importantly, they will keep world-class talent and crews here, ensuring California drives the future of storytelling,\u201d Bell said.<\/p>\n Sen.
