You Am I<\/a> have been revealed as the inductee act for the ARIA Hall Of Fame<\/a> this year. The veteran Australian rock band will head into the hall this November, as part of the ARIA Awards<\/a> ceremony at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney on Wednesday, November 19th. The line-up being inducted is the band\u2019s current one, which has remained unchanged for over 25 years: Founding member Tim Rogers<\/a> on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Davey Lane<\/a> on lead guitar and keyboards, Andy Kent on bass and Russell \u201cRusty\u201d Hopkinson on drums.<\/p>\n

\u201cAustralia has witnessed You Am I shape the course of modern rock music with their unmistakable sound, honed by live shows across the length and breadth of the country and beyond,\u201d said Annabelle Herd \u2013 the CEO of ARIA \u2013 in a press statement announcing the induction. \u201cWith 10 ARIA Awards, multiple chart-topping albums, and a legacy that has inspired countless musicians, You Am I is one of the finest live acts this country has produced, fuelled in equal parts by the explosive musical chemistry between the band and Tim Rogers\u2019 era-defining songwriting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Herd went on to note that it was You Am I\u2019s songbook that made them \u201ca band for the ages\u201d. \u201cTim Rogers\u2019 ability to nail a universal feeling with a couple of seemingly throwaway lines, through that uniquely Australian lens, is one of the reasons that You Am I\u2019s music [is] held so close to fans\u2019 hearts,\u201d she said. \u201cWe are thrilled to be welcoming one of Australia\u2019s most influential and enduring bands into the ARIA Hall of Fame.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are bemused, flattered and surprised to be asked to sit at the parents\u2019 table,\u201d said Rogers in his own statement. \u201cThe artists in the Hall have had musical adventures of grandeur and righteous acclaim. Our trail of desperation seems more haphazard and with less dazzle, yet we are giddy and
grateful to feel recognition from the music community. We\u2019ll see you out there on the road of endless possibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n

You Am I\u2019s induction follows on from Missy Higgins<\/a> being inducted<\/a> at the 2024 ARIA Awards ceremony. Both artists featured in the recent Hottest 100 Of Australian Songs<\/a>, as hosted by triple j<\/a>, with their respective signature songs \u2018Berlin Chair\u2019 and \u2018Scar\u2019 each getting voted in. Prior to Higgins,\u00a0Jet<\/a>\u00a0were the most recent inductees into the ARIA Hall Of Fame, with\u00a0their induction<\/a>\u00a0taking place at\u00a0the 2023 ARIA Awards ceremony<\/a>. The last decade has also seen artists such as\u00a0Tina Arena<\/a>,\u00a0Crowded House<\/a>,\u00a0Darryl Braithwaite<\/a>,\u00a0Human Nature<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0the late<\/a>\u00a0Archie Roach<\/a>\u00a0also inducted.<\/p>\n
