The 69th BFI London Film Festival has unveiled an A-list roster of filmmakers set to participate in this year\u2019s Screen Talks program.<\/p>\n
Three-time Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis will sit down for a conversation, marking a rare public appearance for the reclusive actor. Day-Lewis, whose acclaimed filmography includes \u201cThere Will Be Blood,\u201d \u201cLincoln\u201d and \u201cPhantom Thread,\u201d remains the only performer to claim three best actor Oscars. His new film, \u201cAnemone,\u201d is premiering at the New York Film Festival.<\/p>\n
More from Variety<\/strong><\/p>\n Greek auteur Yorgos Lanthimos, fresh off \u201cBugonia,\u201d which premiered at the Venice Film Festival, will also participate in the program. Since his 2009 breakthrough \u201cDogtooth,\u201d Lanthimos has carved out one of the most distinctive paths in contemporary cinema.<\/p>\n Richard Linklater, the filmmaker behind \u201cBoyhood,\u201d \u201cDazed and Confused\u201d and the \u201cBefore\u201d trilogy, will participate in the conversation series. His diverse filmography spans experimental works like \u201cSlacker\u201d and \u201cWaking Life\u201d to comedies including \u201cSchool of Rock\u201d and \u201cHit Man.\u201d His new film, \u201cNouvelle Vague,\u201d debuted at Cannes and will play at San Sebastian.<\/p>\n Oscar-winning \u201cNomadland\u201d director Chlo\u00e9 Zhao is among the marquee names. Her approach combines documentary and narrative filmmaking aesthetics, seen in works from \u201cThe Rider\u201d to her Marvel entry \u201cEternals.\u201d Her new film \u201cHamnet\u201d premiered at Telluride and will next play at Toronto.<\/p>\n The program also features Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi, whose body of work spans from \u201cThe White Balloon\u201d to \u201cTaxi\u201d and \u201cNo Bears.\u201d His most recent film, \u201cIt Was Just an Accident,\u201d won the Palm d\u2019Or earlier this year.<\/p>\n Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay, with a filmography that includes \u201cRatcatcher,\u201d \u201cWe Need to Talk About Kevin\u201d and \u201cYou Were Never Really Here,\u201d will also participate.
