Jason Aldean has finally opened up about the \u201cbreakdown\u201d he had after the mass shooting<\/a> at the Route 91 Harvest Festival eight years ago.<\/p>\n On Oct. 1, 2017, the You Make It Easy singer, 48, was performing in front of a crowd in Las Vegas<\/a> when a lone gunman opened fire and took the lives of 60 people and injured more than 800 others.<\/p>\n Now, with the country singer recently facing a health scare within his own family<\/a>, the experience appears to have stirred up long-suppressed emotions about the tragic event<\/a>, prompting him to make a heartbreaking confession.<\/p>\n While appearing on Dax Shepard\u2019s podcast Armchair Expert, he said, \u201cIt was just obviously something that we weren’t prepared for.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a festival like we’ve done a million times,\u201d the singer mentioned.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The singer and his team weren\u2019t able to leave the area until the following morning.<\/p>\n \u201cWe finally got out of there the next afternoon, home and you’re just glad to be home, show up my mom’s crying,\u201d Jason recalled.<\/p>\n \u201cYou know, my oldest daughter was in school, freaking out, thinking that somebody was trying to shoot us, so all the details were still kind of coming out.\u201d<\/p>\n A few days later, he had gone right back into his busy schedule, opening for Saturday Night Live<\/a>. However, he hadn\u2019t forgotten about the tragic event and made sure he put aside some time to return to Las Vegas and make sure his fans were okay.<\/p>\n \u201cSunday morning, I was on a flight going back to Las Vegas to go to the hospital and see all the victims. That was tough,\u201d he admitted. \u201cPeople hadn’t recovered from their wounds yet.\u201d<\/p>\n After that, he went right back on the road to finish his They Don\u2019t Know Tour.
