After serving up two acclaimed seasons of bloodsuckers and spellcasters with Anne Rice<\/a>\u2018s Interview with the Vampire<\/em><\/a> and Mayfair Witches<\/em><\/a>, AMC is expanding their Immortal Universe with a third entry, Talamasca: The Secret Order<\/a>,<\/em> that binds the pair together even more.<\/p>\n Unlike Interview<\/em> (which is being retitled The Vampire Lestat<\/em> for its third season) and Mayfair<\/em>, this one \u2014 about the titular covert organization dedicated to monitoring the not-entirely-human beings who walk among us \u2014 isn\u2019t based on any specific Rice novels. The supernatural CIA already established by Vampire<\/em>\u2018s Talamasca agent Raglan James (Justin Kirk<\/a>) and Mayfair<\/em>\u2018s Ciprien Grieves (Tongayi Chirisa<\/a>) is \u201ckind of an unexplored element of Anne Rice\u2019s [literary] universe,\u201d says executive producer Mark Lafferty (Halt and Catch Fire<\/a><\/em>), a former Mayfair<\/em> writer who has created an entirely original story with co-showrunner John Lee Hancock<\/a> (The Blind Side<\/a><\/em>). The show is also unlike its predecessors in that it\u2019s a spy thriller. One that just so happens to traffic in those things that go bump in the night.<\/p>\n \u201cThe first meetings we had, honestly, were talking about our favorite spy movies,\u201d Lafferty recalls of his and Hancock\u2019s touchstones. \u201cThree Days of the Condor<\/a><\/em>, The Parallax View<\/a><\/em>, those sorts of worlds, and seeing if we brought that approach to a genre television show, could we just turn it a little bit this<\/em> way and do it that<\/em> way, so that the world of Helen and Guy still fits in the world of Mayfair Witches<\/em> and Vampire<\/em>, but that nobody would mistake the goings-on in our world for being one of those shows.\u201d<\/p>\n
